چکیده
In this paper, ve investigate the flov of a viscous, Incompresslble, electrlcally conducting fluld through a rectangular duct in the presence of a magnetic fleld, when one of the boundaries perpedlcular to the umgnetlc field is partly conducting and partly Insu/atlng, by a modified Boundary Integral Hethod. Three problems are considered (1) flov through an infinite channel, (li) flov through a rectangular duct vhen the conducting part is symmetrlcally situated, and (Ill) flow through a rectangular duct vhen the conducting part is arbltrarily positioned. Such problems have been studied before by asyptotlc means for large values of H, the Hartmann nuaber. Hoverer, the present odlflcatlon of the Boundary Integral Method renders the proble coputatlonally efficient and provides a rellable ntmerlcal solutlon for all values of H. For large M, our coputatlon tlme decreases slgnlflcantly. KEY ORDS AND NEW PHRASES. Boundary Integral method, Hl flow, and asymptotic solutlons. 1980 AMS SUBJECT CLASSIFICATION CODE. 76t/05.

Heat transfer in MHD square duct flow of nanofluid with discrete heat sources
The effect of thermal and solutal buoyancy induced by a discrete source of heat and mass transfer in a square duct under the influence of magnetic field, especially at the turbulent regime for the first time is reported. Al2O3/water nanofluid is used with constant heat flux from three discrete heat sources. In the present study, the effects of Reynolds number (100 to 3000), particle volume frac...
متن کاملNumerical and Experimental Studies of Mhd Flow in a Rectangular Duct with a Non-conducting Flow Insert
We consider magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) flows in a conducting rectangular duct with a non-conducting flow channel insert (FCI) in a constant transverse magnetic field. The computations based on the fully developed flow model are performed for three FCI modifications: (i) without pressure equalization openings, (ii) with the pressure equalization slot (PES) in the FCI wall parallel and (iii) perpe...
متن کاملNumerical Magneto Hydro Dynamic Flow Simulation of Velocity and Pressure for Electrically Conducting, Incompressible Fluids
In this paper, we report on numerical simulations of incompressible MagnetoHydroDdynamic flows by a two dimensional finite difference scheme associated to an appropriate projection method performed to characterize velocity-pressure formulations along the specified MHD duct by solving the set of differential equations of magnetohydrodynamics. In the present calculation, a working electrolytic so...
متن کاملWhen MHD-Based Microfluidics is Equivalent to Pressure-Driven Flow
Magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) provides a convenient, programmable means for propelling liquids and controlling fluid flow in microfluidic devices without a need for mechanical pumps and valves. When the magnetic field is uniform and the electric field in the electrolyte solution is confined to a plane that is perpendicular to the direction of the magnetic field, the Lorentz body force is irrotatio...
متن کاملMoving Lids Direction Effects on MHD Mixed Convection in a Two-Sided Lid-Driven Enclosure Using Nanofluid
Magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) mixed convection flow of Cu–water nanofluid inside a two-sided lid-driven square enclosure with adiabatic horizontal walls and differentially heated sidewalls has been investigated numerically. The effects of moving lids direction, variations of Richardson number, Hartmann number, and volume fraction of nanoparticles on flow and temperature fields have been studied. Th...
